По предварительным данным, допустимый уровень воды в этом месте был превышен еще 29 декабря. На ГЭС в Огре были открыты дополнительные шлюзы, и три дня ситуация оставалась в пределах нормы.
Однако, как отметил начальник муниципальной полиции Огре Угис Улманис, ранним утром 2 января уровень воды вновь стал стремительно повышаться. Как сообщил Улманис, уровень воды в реке на 50-60 см превышает допустимый.
По предварительным данным было затоплено около 70 участков. На месте ЧП работают сотрудники Государственной пожарно-спасательной службы. О затоплении территорий местных жителей оповещают с помощью мегафона.
По предположению полиции, виновником затопления может быть Огрская ГЭС.
